Thursday Singapore Chinatown Part 4 - Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum
Our final stop in Chinatown was the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum. As it was towards the end of the day, the museum on the third floor was closed, but we still managed to wander through the rest of the temple, including the rooftop garden.

Chinatown-Temple

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum was founded in 2002 by Venerable Shi Fazhao. It's dedicated to the Maitreya Buddha, which means 'The Compassionate One', and also called 'The Future Buddha'. It's an impressive example of Chinese architecture combining a timber framework and multi-leveled roof arches with intricate and decorative interiors.

Thursday Singapore Chinatown Part 3 - The Streets
Singapore's Chinatown is an ethnic neighbourhood featuring distinctly Chinese cultural elements and a historically concentrated ethnic Chinese population.

The Chinese are the largest ethnic group in Singapore, composing approximately 75% of the population and so it wasn't surprising to find that Chinatown encompassed a whole host of streets such as Pagoda Street and Trengganu Street, the latter of which was a pedestrian mall, transforming into a night market after dark. Thursday Singapore Chinatown Part 2 - The Wet Market - Fish, Turtles and Toads
After our lunch in Singapore's Chinatown hawker centre, I wanted to have a quick look at the wet market below (the hawker centre was on an upper floor).

Thursday Singapore MRT and Uncles and Aunties
I don't have much to say about the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system. As expected, it's clean, efficient and easy to get around. I like the carriage interior design too.
