Scenic Japanese Landscapes at the Historic Koishikawa Koraku Garden
The Koishikawa Korakuen Garden is a 70,000 square metre formal Japanese garden reachable via the Iidabashi metro station. Its one of Tokyo's most beautiful gardens and less visited by foreigners apparently, so we make a beeline for the place.

Completed during the Edo Period, the Koishikawa Korakuen Garden is certainly no ordinary green space.

The No Entry Tokyo Imperial Palace
It was with little expectation that we made our way to the Imperial Palace via Tokyo station, since we knew that the place was closed to the public. Except for two days a year - the 2nd of January and the 23rd December!

However, we did not know that we could only walk around the outskirts and only view the complex system of stone walls, moats and watch towers from the outside.

Design Festa at Tokyo Big Sight - Amazing Cardboard City Model
One of the exhibitors at the May 2009 Design Festa (vol.29) was the creator of this mini cardboard city.

Though crude as a result of the corrugated texture, the model was still fascinatingly detailed, depicting several high rise blocks, complete with interiors and atmospheric back lighting.

Design Festa at Tokyo Big Sight - Performers and Entertainment
If all the creative work on display were not enough at the May 2009 Design Festa at Tokyo Big Sight, then surely the performers were.

Peppered throughout the double floor space were several artist performers playing ad hoc gigs and art pieces to small crowds of onlookers.

Design Festa at Tokyo Big Sight - Amazing Variety of Artist Work
With so many exhibitors and their work to see at the 29th Design Festa, held at Tokyo Big Sight, it was hard to find a balance between covering as much as possible and spending enough quality time at the stalls we found interesting.

Nevertheless, here are my highlights. They cover the range of creative work that I personally found interesting, but the diversity of styles at the Design Festa were more widespread.
