Our first meal in Ximending and in fact Taipei, was actually at a sushi restaurant... In our defense, it was the little conveyor-belt model sushi train, traveling past all the diners and through the front window, that won us over.
The Dah Che Luen sushi restaurant used a model train complete with tracks, instead of a regular sushi conveyor belt, to display plastic model dishes that you can order and a limited range of prepared sushi dishes (distinguished by being covered with cling-film).
Catch the sushi train on its journey below.
I didn't recognise much of the sushi on offer actually, and like Linh, eventually settled for a bento box for the majority of my meal.
In February 2009, Mark and Linh moved from the UK to the Far East to spend 16 months living in Hong Kong and traveling around East Asia. This website documents their journey.
