Seoul’s Family Mart - The New Pub
18 July, 2009
Saturday
Family Mart is a chain of convenience stores, like Seven-Eleven, that we saw almost everywhere in both Taipei and Seoul. Whereas we're used to these shops being purely functional (in and out), we were amused to witness late night customers enjoying a brew or two (of booze) outside on especially laid out seating.

Nothing wrong with that I hear you say and there isn't. Hot weather, utility seating, lights and a steady supply of food and drink right next to you at convenience prices and bob-park's your uncle. Still, with Family Mart as the Korean equivalent of a pub, we raised an eyebrow or two before we got used to the sight of it.
