Namdaemun Market for Ginseng and other products

Namdaemun Market is a large day and night market reachable via Hoehyeon metro station on Line 4, but its nowhere near as big as Dongdaemun Market.

Things sold at Namdaemun were similar in style to Dongdaemun, particularly with fashion, though the place also sold lots of ginseng, dried seaweed, some gadgets and alot of spectacles! Several stores on one street had touts outside attempting to draw passerbys in.

In typical East-Asian style, some shops packed all their products into the front.

Some road works seemed to be going on in the area.

Food was plentiful with all kinds of fruit, seafood, fried food and pig parts on offer!

Loving the use of English, we had high expectations for the "Common Plaza".

But this did turn out to be rather... common.

One booth sold Korean Pop photos, cards and posters. Funnily, I thought we would have seen alot more of these, but we didn't.

A couple of guys made themselves comfortable at the side of the road.

We also popped into the Mesa Family Fashion Mall and found this to be like the Dongdaemun malls. We saw this woman deliver someone's dinner on a tray on top of her head. She came from one of Mesa's upper floor food courts to deliver to a street vendor outside.

We didn't visit Namdaemun Market until late afternoon and it seemed to be at a point when some stall holders had decided to pack it in for the day.

As night came, stalls were still operating. I was fascinated by this stamp booth which contained everything needed to automate the production of an ink stamp.

This food shop stocked all kinds of dried food and displayed alot of bottles of ginseng.

Plates of plastic food advertise this restaurant's menu.

Clothes stalls were decidedly quiet and whilst some vendors were bored...

.. some just made the most of the lull to catch some shut-eye.
