Linh and I opted to take the Malacca River Cruise, especially since it cost a paltry RM10 (£1.75) each for a half hour journey up and down the route.
It gave us a chance to see some architecture along the river and though it wasn't always picturesque, still turned out to be a leisurely way to sight-see.
At the route's furthest point from the start (we embarked near the Maritime Museum) there were tons of the river boats docked there. The cruise took us that far before the captain negotiated a three-point-turn to go back along the way we had come.
The following were the other scenes we saw along the Malacca River.
The cruise itself was enough to spark our interest in taking a walk up the river afterwards to explore further.
In February 2009, Mark and Linh moved from the UK to the Far East to spend 16 months living in Hong Kong and traveling around East Asia. This website documents their journey.
