How the Cambodians Easily Catch Crickets
10 December, 2009
Thursday
Whilst on the road, our tuk tuk driver quickly pointed out these hanging sheets and said "crickets" as we sped past them. I whizzed out my trusty DSLR and snapped them. Turns out that these simple contraptions are an ingenious method for capturing crickets. No doubt for serving up, crispy-fried, to tourists as were in Bangkok.

Apparently what happens is that unsuspecting crickets fly or hop towards the sheets, only to be stopped in their tracks to fall straight down into the puddle underneath. They can't deal with water very easily so simply drown.

What the Cambodians really do with all the drowned crickets, I'd rather leave to finding out another time...
