City Night Views at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices
13 May, 2009 Wednesday
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices building in Shinjuku was our first venue for a view of Tokyo at night. As the name suggests, the block houses government workers by day (all 13,000 of 'em!) as they toil over the administration of Tokyo.
We aim straight for the 45th floor which has an observation platform. You can look out at Tokyo in all directions, thanks to all the massive windows - which were also great at reflecting light from the inside (!).
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Offices building is one of quite a few free places to check out Tokyo from above. There is also a scale model of the place which I think I spent more time photographing than the actual city view...
In February 2009, Mark and Linh moved from the UK to the Far East to spend 16 months living in Hong Kong and traveling around East Asia. This website documents their journey.
